Monica (Needoba) White

Monica (Needoba) White is the Sustainability Manager at Edgar and Associates. Monica has over 10 years of experience working in the sustainability arena where she has led teams in developing programs for a range of companies including waste haulers and processors, aerospace and manufacturing. Monica has played a leadership role in assisting companies to develop strong sustainability and environmental programs, and strategically achieve desired goals, including how to incorporate carbon projects into their businesses to meet their carbon reduction targets.

She is proficient in leading multi-company and multi-disciplinary teams through projects, ensuring schedules and budgets are maintained, tasks are completed resulting in exemplary work products. In addition, Monica has advocated for zero waste initiatives, compost market development, greenhouse gas reductions policies, and the integration of sustainable programs at local jurisdictions with waste management franchise procurement programs and aligning local and state policies around sustainability. Monica has advised local government, advocacy groups and private enterprise on issues relating to greenhouse gas management, sustainability, climate adaptation strategies, and zero waste programs.

Previously, Monica was an accredited greenhouse gas emissions verifier through National and State registries for both voluntary and mandatory reporting programs. Monica played a project manager role for several international, multi-state and multi-registry GHG Inventories including: chemical plants, food and beverage companies, general manufacturing, semiconductor wafer fabrication, large maritime ports, airports, aggregate mining, office based organizations, governmental organizations, universities, power generation (co-gen, fossil fuel combustion and renewable energy), retail, transportation, composting, waste water treatment and waste management. Specific companies include General Electric (world-wide), Jazz Semiconductor, Vulcan Materials, Pilkington Glass Manufacturer, Port of Oakland, Port of Los Angeles, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Mendocino Wine, and Brown-Forman.

HIGHLIGHTS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Project Manager on Sustainable Agriculture Feasibility Study for Water Asset Management, which is currently transforming underutilized property in Cadiz, CA into sustainable agriculture using organics.
  • Key Team Member on several projects including transforming food scraps to hydrogen using wet anaerobic digestion, treating produced wastewater from oil and gas operations with ecological treatments, building and permitting composting operations and programs to enhance biochar production throughout the State.
  • Published Sustainability Reports for South San Francisco Scavenger, Rainbow Environmental, Greenwaste Recovery, etc.
  • Assisted South San Francisco Scavenger with application and successful reception of the GEELA Award 2015, California’s highest environmental honor, the California Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award.
